Worth knowing
Rugs are the one thing we'd rather take away
Area rugs are the one service with two ways to do it, and the choice is yours. We can clean the rug right in your home with controlled moisture and strong extraction, so it never travels anywhere. Or, for the deepest possible clean, we collect it — a rug is one of the few things in a house that can be properly cleaned from both sides — and bring it back vibrant and fully dry. Every rug is assessed first, fibres, colours and backing, so we use the right approach either way.
Why in-place cleaning is limited
The problem with cleaning a rug where it lies is what's under it. Hardwood does not want moisture held against it, and a rug over carpet just transfers the dirt downward into the broadloom. Taking the rug away removes that constraint entirely, which means it can be cleaned far more thoroughly than would ever be sensible in your living room.
Every rug gets assessed first
Wool behaves differently from synthetic, and a hand-made rug behaves differently again from a machine-made one. Fibre type, backing, and how the colours were dyed all change what's appropriate, so we look at the rug before deciding the approach rather than running everything through the same process. Colour-safe handling is the point of that check.
In-home or pick-up — your call
Want it done on the spot? We clean the rug right where it lives. Want the deepest clean, or just don't want the disruption? We collect it and return it done — no hauling something heavy and awkward into a car either way. If moving the rug is what made you put this off, nothing has to move.

Area Rug Cleaning FAQs
Common area rug cleaning questions
How long will you have my rug?+
It depends on the rug, mainly its size and how long the fibres take to dry fully, since a rug that goes back damp is a rug that will smell. Ask when you book and we'll give you a realistic window rather than an optimistic one. If you need it back for a particular date, say so up front.
Can you clean an antique or hand-knotted rug?+
Tell us what it is before you book and send a photo if you can, including the back and the fringe. Older and hand-made rugs carry real risks around dye stability that machine-made synthetics don't, and the responsible answer is to look at the specific rug first. We'd rather turn something down than damage it.
What about the fringe?+
Fringe is usually the most fragile part of a rug and the part that shows age first, so it gets handled carefully and separately from the body. If yours is already damaged or coming away, point it out before we start so we both know what condition it was in beforehand.
Do you clean bath mats and door mats?+
Yes, and they're often the most rewarding thing we clean because they take the heaviest soiling in the house and people assume they're finished. Small mats are straightforward. If you have several, gather them together and we'll handle them in one go.
Will the colours run?+
That's what the assessment is for. Dye stability varies enormously between a modern synthetic and an older hand-dyed rug, so we check before committing to a method rather than finding out afterwards. Where there's genuine doubt we'll tell you what we've found and let you decide.
Can you clean it at my house instead?+
For a light refresh it can be an option, and it's worth asking. For anything genuinely dirty, taking it away gets a much better result for the reasons above. We'll tell you which one your rug actually needs rather than defaulting to whichever is easier.
